If you consider yourself a hardcore gamer, you'll know how important it is to make sure that your rig is the best.
Making sure that the CPU is the fastest, the graphics card the best, and you have a massive SSD.
But many gamers will scoff at the fact that you can get high-quality gaming on a laptop versus a desktop.
And yes, there are gaming laptops out there.
Usually, they tend to cost a lot of money if you want desktop gaming specs.
The point of this is to try to dispel the myth that you can't go gaming on a laptop without spending a ton of money.
I've never had a laptop that could do gaming well.
I always preferred consoles.
That's why it's impressive how gaming laptops have caught consoles and desktops.
But it's not only the specification that matters.
What you play also plays a part.
If you like games like PUBG and Fortnite then you need a laptop that exceeds the recommended specs of each game.
On top of the performance and whether it can play Fortnite, it's all about the price.
This was what put most gaming laptops out of reach of the most hardcore gamers.
As you have seen from this article title, my budget is only $600.
I'm pretty sure many of you are thinking I'm crazy for making this list.
After all, what gaming laptop can you get for this price that actually can play the latest games?
There are some great gaming laptops here from a wide range of manufacturers.
Some of them you may not usually associate with gaming laptops.
But because gaming laptops are such a hot market it makes sense that more and more laptop manufacturers who usually only create laptops for business users also create ones for gamers.
Let's dive right in and look at the best gaming laptops for gamers on a budget.
If you've been holding out on spending a ton of your money on a high-end gaming laptop, check my list out.
You may be surprised at what you can get that is actually affordable and plays games at a decent rate.
All right, let's get to the article!
Asus Vivobook K570VD
Asus's offering to our list of gaming laptops for under $600 has a great display.
Its display is one of the best that you will find on a gaming laptop.
Similarly, it comes with a stellar graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce 1050 GTX.
It's also budget-friendly.
Coming with four display optimization modes.
Asus also uses its Tru2Life video technology here.
Allowing for intelligent pixel optimization to give you the perfect contrast and sharpness.
This is further enhanced by the graphics card that this laptop comes with.
It's so impressive I'll type it again.
It comes with a Nvidia GeForce 1050 GTX.
It helps take the visual performance and quality up a notch.
The Asus Vivobook K570ZD runs off an AMD Quad-core Ryzen 5 2500U CPU.
The speed is impressive – 3.6GHz.
This gives you the power to play the majority of the latest games.
It also has a backlit keyboard so you can play games anywhere.
It also has a 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD drive.
This gives you fast loading time and a smooth and stutter-free gaming experience.
Battery life is also impressive.
It has massive nine-hour battery life.
It's also impressive when it comes to charging it.
When the battery gets low you can be back to 60% battery with only 50 minutes of charging.
So, you can easily and quickly get back into your game.
It weighs 4.32 pounds which makes it affordable and easy to handle.
For added security, you also get a fingerprint sensor.
You can set this up for Windows 10 login authentication.
The only downside to this package is that the storage memory is low, compared to other models on my list.
Dell Inspiron 15 5000
If you are focusing mainly on price in this list, then the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 wins hands-down.
You get a full HD display, with an Intel integrated 620 graphics card.
Sure, Intel isn't known for gaming graphics, but this is focusing more on price than features.
Along with 8GB RAM, the CPU is an 8th Generation Intel Quad-Core i5.
This has a speed of up to 3.4GHz.
You can play more recent titles on this gaming laptop.
And did I mention the case?
It's super sleek and well designed and super stylish.
Something that you may not necessarily associate with Dell.
This gaming laptop also gives you a full touchscreen display using Dell's Tru-Life technology.
This gives you crystal clear visuals.
The touchscreen is an advantage because you can use it as an input method.
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is an affordable gaming laptop for sure.
You get a 1TB SSD drive.
This is enough space for you to install your games and carry them with you.
Having the SSD drive also makes sure that your games boot up and load in a flash.
You can get uninterrupted gaming at a great price.
When it comes to weight, it's also not heavy.
Weighing in at just 4.8 pounds.
You can carry this laptop around easily without having to worry.
This is usually not the case when it comes to gaming laptops.
They tend to be heavier than regular laptops.
All these features are backed up with a battery that will give you just over 5 hours of battery life.
If you are into outdoor gaming, then the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 can meet your needs.
Especially for gamers who are budget conscious.
It makes a great gaming laptop for someone who is taking their first step into the world of gaming laptops.
You also get a backlit keyboard, the same as all others on my list.
This means you can play in environments that have low light.
The only downside to this laptop is the CPU speed.
If you don't use Turbo Boost, then you may notice a performance drop.
The graphics card is not an Nvidia GeForce.
For many gamers using an AMD graphics card, the card may be a turn-off.
But for those who want an affordable gaming laptop the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 ticks the box.
That's why I put it on my list.
HP Onyx Blizzard
HP is quite like Dell.
They are usually known for providing business laptops to companies.
But, also like Dell, they have started to want to get a piece of the gaming PC market.
And HP gives us the Onyx Blizzard which I had to put on this list.
Remember how so far, most gaming laptops are heavy?
Well, the HP Blizzard Onyx is a very lightweight gaming laptop.
This is something that you don't usually find.
Manufacturers tend to pack gaming laptops with so much tech that it makes it heavy.
But the HP Onyx Blizzard is a great combination of performance and weight.
It weighs just 4.87 pounds.
That is a massive weight difference when compared to some of the beefier gaming laptops on my list.
It comes with a 7th Generation quad-core Intel i5 processor.
This can be Turbo Boosted to speeds of up to 3.5GHz.
You get 1TB SSD and 12GB RAM.
These specs are very impressive.
The HP Blizzard Onyx is designed to make sure that you are completely immersed in your gaming.
It provides you with great audio and visual technology for gaming.
The display is fantastic.
Thanks to the Full HD IPS anti-glare display.
The sound quality comes from two B&O PLAY speakers.
HP hasn't skimped on any of the technology that gamers look for.
The graphics card here comes from an AMD Radeon RX 550.
This is something of a strange choice.
As you have probably guessed already.
Most of the other gaming laptops in this list have an Nvidia GeForce card.
But this laptop still works great for gaming outdoors if that's what you like.
It gives a massive 10.5 hours battery life and comes with a backlit keyboard.
This lets you stay in control of the action and affirms that this is a great gaming laptop for those on a budget.
Asus VivoBook 15
There are a few very lightweight gaming laptops on my list.
The Asus VivoBook is another one of these.
It weighs just 3.5 pounds.
This makes it exceedingly lightweight, easy to carry, and portable.
It's a great start for any gamer who wants a laptop that they can easily carry around with them.
This gaming laptop is designed slightly differently.
To make typing easier for you, the base is arched at an angle.
It also has a Nano Edge bezel, so the display gives you a larger viewing angle.
It runs on an AMD Quad-Core r5-3500u CPU.
This is a powerful CPU, make no mistake.
It can run at a speed of up to 3.6GHz.
It's 15.6″ screen comes in Full HD and is anti-glare.
Asus back up this awesome display with their software allowing you to tweak it to your needs.
It's also a great gaming laptop for those who play online, thanks to the fast WiFi connection.
This is yet another gaming laptop on my list that decides to not use an Nvidia GeForce card.
This card is what most gamers look for in a gaming laptop. Instead, this gaming laptop uses an AMD Radeon RX Vega 8 card. This is equally as powerful as any Nvidia GeForce equivalent.
Battery life on this laptop is very good.
You will get over 8 hours of gaming power from it.
This makes it a great laptop if you play games outdoor.
The backlit keyboard lets you play in all kinds of environments, regardless of lighting.
But this laptop does seem to give you less storage space than others on my list.
The SSD drive is only 256GB.
This may not be enough for some gamers.
So, it's not the best one you can get for under $600.
At least the storage is an SSD.
This at least means that your games install and boot up quickly.
Dell is a company that doesn't pop up in your head when you think of gaming laptops.
Typically, you are more likely to associate Alienware than Dell with gaming laptops.
But Dell seems to be trying to shake off their business image and branch out to gaming laptops.
The Dell G3 Gaming Laptop is definitely for gamers who want a massive amount of storage space.
After all, most AAA games these days take up a massive amount of disk space.
When you factor that in with the OS size and your other apps, you need to make sure you have enough space for everything.
Luckily the Dell G3 Gaming Laptop has storage space in spades.
The benefit of this is that you can install all your games and take them wherever you go.
To accommodate you the Dell G3 Gaming Laptop gives you a 1TB hard drive.
This is definitely enough to let you install most games without any issues.
It is powered by an 8th Generation Intel i5 CPU.
This is running at a speed of up to 3.9GHz.
So, you have a fast CPU, tons of storage space, but what about the RAM?
Well, Dell thought about this and you get 8GB RAM on top.
These features combined let you play the latest AAA games without any issues.
So, you won't have to worry about stuttering or slow down when the action gets hectic.
The Dell G3 Gaming Laptop can easily handle what most AAA games throw at it.
As an added benefit, you can upgrade the RAM up to 32GB.
This is something you should seriously consider.
It isn't something that you would usually get with a budget laptop.
The ability to upgrade the RAM means that you get a gaming laptop that can last you.
The Dell G3 also comes with a gorgeous looking display.
It's full HD IPS, with anti-glare technology.
As an added benefit, the display is designed to prevent eye strain.
This is great for gamers after a heavy gaming session, and it's nice to not have to worry if you get too engrossed.
When it comes to graphics it is powered by an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.
This comes with 4GB RAM.
This gives you top-notch and unrivaled graphical clarity.
Games running on this laptop have to be seen to be believed.
You wouldn't expect a budget gaming laptop to be able to output games at such a high quality and without lag.
Dell has thought very much about gaming in all environments.
You get a backlit keyboard, so you can play games everywhere.
It means that you can keep playing despite the lighting conditions of where you are.
If you do enjoy gaming outdoors, you'll be pleased to know that the Dell G3 Gaming Laptop gives 6 hours of battery life.
This may not be as much as other gaming laptops on this list.
But it is more than enough.
The downside to this gaming laptop is the weight.
It is considerably hefty, weighing in at 5.18 pounds.
It is also one of the gaming laptops on this list powered by only a single CPU.
This can be limiting performance.
But overall you get massive amounts of storage.
And a great Full HD IPS display.
Expandable RAM and dedicated graphics card round off this laptop.
And it has a decent enough battery life.
It's a great gaming laptop from Dell for those who are budget conscious.
Asus TUF FX505DT
Asus really seem to be ruling my list.
Here is another offering from them.
The Asus TUF FX505DT is definitely a gaming laptop for gamers who care about graphics.
Thanks to its Quad-Core AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, which can run at speeds of up to 3.7GHz.
It's a wonderful CPU, combined with an Nvidia graphics card.
Specifically, it's the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650.
This comes with a dedicated 4GB of RAM.
It gives you sharp and crystal-clear graphics, with no stutter or slowdown.
You also get a full HD IPS display, with a 120Hz refresh rate. The thin bezel around the display gives you a wide viewing angle. Perfect for gaming with friends.
Featuring an RGB keyboard.
It not only looks good.
But it allows you to play in all environments because it is backlit.
So, you can keep playing the latest games even in areas with low light.
But like other laptops on my list, for some reason, Asus gives little storage space.
The Asus TUF FX505DT definitely misses the spot because of its lack of storage.
With many of the top games taking up tons of hard drive space, you need a gaming laptop with enough storage.
But Asus has added a few extra features instead.
For example, it comes with an anti-dust cooling system.
Not only does the laptop remain cool, but also it helps reduce dust.
This is great if you play games for a long period.
Weighing in at 4.85 pounds, this is a lightweight laptop.
This is something you may not think when you first see it.
But the trade-off is the battery life.
You'll get only around 4 hours of battery life overall.
If you play games outdoors, then this laptop may not be the best choice.
There are plenty of others on my list with better battery life.
Acer Aspire E 15
The Acer Aspire E 15 not only can provide you with great gaming experience.
It also lets you play more high-end games than others on this list.
This is thanks in part to its Intel i5 CPU.
This can be clocked up to 3.4GHz.
It is this power that makes it more compatible with more titles with no lag at all.
How fast your game loads are also important.
That's why the Acer Aspire E 15 comes with a massive 256GB SSD drive.
And there are even more features from this little gaming laptop.
Its display is a Full HD LED-lit IPS display.
The quality of the display is great, and this is due to the Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics card.
This card ensures that the games you play are detailed and you don't miss out on anything.
And here's why the E 15 comes into its own.
It's battery life.
With this laptop, you get a fantastic 15 hours of battery life.
So, you can play games with this on your lap and you sit outside.
Sure, it weighs 5.27 pounds, but most gamers will put up with this.
This is one of the best gaming laptops you can currently get for under $600.
The only downside to this is the graphics card.
When you compare what the E 15 gives you with others on this list then you may be better picking something else.
Acer Nitro 5
The Acer Nitro 5 is a gaming laptop from Acer.
It comes with a 9th generation Intel i5 CPU.
It isn't the most powerful CPU, let's be honest.
But this is all about the price.
It's great for gamers who are on a budget because of its price.
To its advantage, it's also upgradeable.
You get two slots for RAM upgrades.
And as gamers know, you can't get enough RAM when it comes to gaming.
The Acer Nitro 5 made our list for its price and for the fact that being able to upgrade it means it also has lastability.
You may even be able to get this for under $600 if you shop around.
The CPU is an i5-9300H.
It's backed up for graphics with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card.
This gives you 4GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM.
Running games on this will ensure no glitching or tearing or performance issues.
It also comes with a multitude of ports.
Including an RJ45 network port, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, and a headphone port.
It even comes with a Kensington lock so you can secure your gaming laptop.
It is also one of the few laptops where you can see its exhaust port.
It's on the right side, alongside the ports.
But this makes it heavier.
Although you do get an immersive gaming experience still.
And as I mentioned, it's no slouch when playing high-end games.
And because it's a little heavier than other gaming laptops doesn't mean it's hard to carry.
Acer has made sure that the weight is evenly distributed.
You can sit and play games with this on your lap.
And I need to talk about games and their performance.
It ran Battlefield on the ultra-mode setting.
Fortnite, Overwatch, and Rainbow six all run on epic mode.
But it kind of struggles with PUBG.
You won't get the highest graphical settings.
It's more comfortable on mid to high settings.
This isn't a fault of this laptop per se.
It's something to think about based upon our budget.
It's only $600, remember?
I like this laptop because it can play the latest games, not always at the highest settings, but you can upgrade it.
That means a lot to me.
Most laptops these days cannot be upgraded.
For example, it has a 2.5-inch hard drive space.
You can replace it with an SSD, and the RAM can be upgraded for faster performance.
And you can get all this for under $600.
I'm not making this up.
If you shop around online, you may even get it a little cheaper than that.
It's a great gaming laptop for those on a budget.
It's a case of squeezing out maximum performance without costing you the earth.
As a bonus, it comes in a matte finish.
This means you can clean it easily when it comes to removing fingerprints.
But please be aware that it has no SD card reader, and, for other hardware, the camera isn't the best.
But most gamers won't care about either of these things.
Many gamers see virtual reality as the next frontier of gaming.
Others see it as a gimmick, like 3D films.
I'm in the latter.
But I couldn't exclude this very capable virtual reality gaming laptop from my list.
This bad boy is completely virtual reality ready. It's compatible with a wide range of VR hardware.
Including virtual reality hardware from Oculus, HTC, Rift, and Windows Mixed Reality Ultra.
If you don't like virtual reality gaming this gaming laptop still has lots to offer.
With an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU.
This is clocked at 2.1GHz.
You also get a decent 8GB of RAM.
This ensures no lag whilst you are in the heat of battle.
To help you stay competitive and ahead of the game, the Asus TUF TX505DD has a Full HD display.
This is great if you love to play multiplayer games.
It also comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050.
The second gaming laptop to feature this.
And it's still impressive to see in a gaming laptop in this price range.
The addition of a backlit keyboard means you can play anywhere and at any time.
Your gaming doesn't have to depend on your environment lighting.
It weighs 5.93 pounds, which makes it quite heavy when you sit with it on your lap.
It's also not very suitable for outdoor gaming.
This is due to the battery.
It lasts just shy over 5 hours in total.
This laptop has a slower CPU than other models on this list, and less storage space and average battery life.
But that doesn't mean that you should overlook it.
What to Look for To Get the
Best Laptop for under $600?
There are plenty of great gaming laptops on my list.
But which one should you choose?
As ever, it depends on you and a variety of factors.
You should make a list of what matters most to you in a gaming laptop.
Then look for laptops with those specs for your budget.
For many of these laptops, you'll have no trouble playing the latest games.
Sure, it may not be on ultra HD settings.
And you may get occasional lag or graphical tears, but it won't detract from the gameplay.
You need to make a wise choice when picking any of these laptops.
Make sure you get a fast CPU, good graphics card, and enough storage space for your budget.
For those who don't play games outdoors, you can get a laptop with good specs but less battery life for your budget.
It's a complete trade-off that you have to think about.
Factor in things like the display, screen resolution.
The amount of SSD space you need for your games and Windows 10.
If you have a particular game you play, check the required specs against the laptop you want on my list.
You can then determine the ones that will run it best and pick the best laptop for your budget.
And don't worry if you are new to the world of gaming laptops.
These laptops are meant to be carried around.
They aren't supposed to be sat on a desk.
With that in mind, remember to factor in battery life.
Especially if you will use your gaming laptop for other activities.
Like work, browsing the web, or watching movies.
You can get a great gaming laptop from any of the ones on my list if your budget is $600 or around that mark.
Be prepared for a little sacrifice, as I mentioned.
Otherwise, you can look forward to great gaming on a budget.
This list is proof that you can still enjoy playing the latest games without having to shell out $1000+.
There are some great gaming laptops here.
And I am sure that with a little research you will find the one that best meets your needs.
It doesn't matter what kind of gamer you are, or what games you play.
These laptops will be able to keep you in the competition and they deserve to be checked out.
